Description: This vintage Sansui vaccum tube Hi-Fi stereo receiver now is fully restored to reliably working condition and to perform as close as possible to original specifications. In total I must have spent more than 50 hours of work time plus parts on this unit, so at what ever price, it will not be adequate to compensate for the actual time that I put into this unit. Take advantage of this one in a life time opportunity for the unit being available at aprice tag much lower than the actual work time and parts spent, or what it would cost you to have yours restored with the same work that went into this u it. Due to the involved work time versus payment ratio I won't restore another 1000A ever - SO: Get this unit while available! With your purchase I wil be glad to e-mail you a photo of all replaced parts, which are numerous. The 1000A features 7591 output tubes, used in push pull configuration and providse about 35 W RMS per channel. Speaker output impedance of the amplifier section, is selectable between 8 and 16 Ohms.

Features: The 1000A is a pretty luxurious tube receiver. Inputs: 2 Phono inputs; AUX input, Tape Input (head, monitor) Outputs: tape recording outputs, center chanel mono oputput, screw terminals for speakers, selector tswitch for output impedances of 8 / 16 Ohms. Front Panel Elements (Left to Right, top to bottom) Tunig dial section: signal strength meter, FM stereo indicator light, amplifier mono light, amplifer Stereo light, tuning dial; Row of black toggle switches: speakers on/off, presence, High filter, low filter, loudness, tape monitor, FM muting, , FM AFC. Tuning knob; Power switch, head phone jack, Balance control, Bass + Trebble Controls (each has separate section to control L and R separtely), Volume control, MODE switch: stereo reverse, stereo normal, Mono left, Momo right, Mono L+R (This is quite useful for playing vintage mono records or mono reel to reel tapes), BAND SELECTOR: AM sharp, AM broad, FM mono, FM stereo; INPUT SELECTOR: MIC, TAPE HEAD, PHONO 1, PHONO 2, TUNER, AUX. REAR panel elelemnts: Speaker impedance selector switch: 6 / 16 Oms. Phase switch: 0 / 180 degres, Level trimmers: L, R; DIN jack, 2 AC acessoriy outlets.

Condition: Refurbished, Tested in every detail, fully and reliably working. It sounds quite nice. All electrolytic capcitors replaced. All audio signal coupling capacitors replaced / some upgraded. Both channels deliver steady signals without distortion and clear highs. Both channels seem balanced with nice bass and highs. The tuner section fully works as well and receives even weak stations well. The stereo decoder works well. All is in perfect good working order. Physical condition: 9/10.

Work performed to rework this unit: Fist level: restored all controls contacts and switches including the tuning capacitor with quality chemicals. Re-worked each and every tube socket. Replaced all capacitors involved in the entire power supply, Replaced audio signal coupling capacitors (upgraded many with higher quality), Replaced capacitors in other areas of the unit, such as stereo decoder, phono pre-amp. Lubricated meachical parts. Performed several minor repairs, Repaired and aligned FM front end. Full functional test including several measurments: such as phase distortion, output power etc. Physical celaning and detail work (disassembled front panel etx. completely) Other work that I do not rmeember (such as testing tubes, etc. etc.) as I restored this unit over a period of 2 years.

Description: This vintage Fisher 500C vaccum tube stereo receiver comes form a time when equipment was manufactured in the USA and to highest standards of quality. It is tested in fully working condition and all in it appears orgiginal. The 500C features 7591 output tubes, used in push pull configuration and providse about 35 W RMS per channel. Output impedance of the amplifier, is selectable between 4, 8 and 16 Ohms. The pre- and power amplifer can be separated and there are RCA jacks to use these circuits separately.

Tubes: 4x 7591 (Output); 9 x 12AX7, 2 x 6AU6, 1 x 6K5, 1x 6HR6, 1 x 6GK5, 1 x ECC85.

Condition: Tested, fully working. Contacts, etc. cleaned. It fully works and sounds quite nice. Both channels deliver steady signals without distortion and clear highs. Both channels seem balanced with nice bass and highs. The tuner section fully works as well and receives even weak stations and the stereo decoder appears to work. All is in good working order. I did not find any intermittency after cleaning switches and controls. It works as it should be and already sounds great. Not to say that the unit could not benefit form going through it in depth to clean tube sockets etc. For long term reliability though ideally it should be re-worked in all aspects that are affected by aging, such as replacing capacitors and out of tolerance components. The unit is as shown and does not have a wooden case. This unit is ready to ship, fully tubed with all the original tubes it came in with. Physical Condition: No issues. No missing parts. No Damages, but unit will definitely benefit from physical cleaning.

Work performed to rework this unit: I have taken the time to power the unit up slowly with a variac to carefully condition the capacitors for use. I did a basic tune-up job: deoxydizing all controls and switches and some of the tube sockets.and have done a general contact cleaning job to go through controls, tube sockets and switches.

Detail: Question: "Is this Fisher 500C gold or silver colored?" Answer: The unit is brushed aluminum, meaning "silver", but may appear slightly yellow and could benefit from a cleaning. In order not to damage any of the printing, I left that all original to be processed by the buyer. The covers of the knobs, however, are brass (golden).

Question: "Are you saying it will need to be worked on asap or is it in operating cond. now?" Answer: The unit is currently in fully working condition, but with all equipment of that I age I would recommend to replace aged components for performance to specs and for long term reliability. Also: new capacitors will bring more detail and sparkle in sound.

Description: With decent tube tuners reaching the $400 - $500 range I would like to offer a low cost alternitive for the FM section of your tube rig: NAD always was among the top quality and nicest sounding Hi-Fi equipment brands and this tuner is no exeption as it stems form a period of time when emphasis was on highest qualitry and not lowest cost (in contrary to equipment made today!)

Features: This tuner uses a nice 3 section FM front end, which is usually only found in top quality tuners and it provides the rare switch for 3 FM De-Emphsis settings: 25, 50 and 75 uS. The unit is other wise kept sweet and simple: It provides a power button, a mono button, a muting button and the tuning wheel. There is a stereo indicator and 3 LED that aid perfect tuning: minus, zero and plus. To summarize: this unit is no exeption to top quality FM equipment and is a great value for the money.

Work performed to present this unit in reliably and nice workigncondition: De-Oxydized and lubricated all switrches, controls and contacts, includign the tuning capacitor. Replaced the scale illumination lamp. Check and quick tweak of allignments. Physical Cleaning and detail work.

Condition: Refurbished - Works perfectly. Sorry about the poor image, which does not represent the unit very well: The unit is physically in excellent conditon with only minor signs of use that are found on any equipment of that age. Very clean - very nice for it's age.

Lot: 1 NAD 4020 (New Acoustic Dimensions series 20) tuner as described and shown above.
