SONY D-50 DISCMAN
SONY's first ever portable CD player!
SONY D-50 Old Scool Vintage CD player: The D-50 was SONY's first ever portable CD player launched in 1984. The unit aimed to break the barrier of the impossible to be in the size of a CD box in footprint and introduced the term "Discman" to the world (based on "SONY Walkman" teminology) . This specimen in in nice and fully reliably working condition.
It also includes original accerssories, which are rather hard to find: the AC power supply base onto which it slides and the portable case, which by the way was designed to protect this precious gem - (CD players were a novely, especially a portable unit! - the unit was quite expensive!) and to provide battery power to the unit.

Condition: The unit is in refurbished and excellent working condition. It plays stable, finds tracks quickly and is not very sensistive to vibration which means that the laser is still strong and the pick-up assembly is nicely working and in great condition. There is one shortcomming, however, and that is that the LCD display's contrast setting is not optimal, which means that the display is well readable when looking directly form the fornt at it, but is hard to read, if looking form above. All included items are in excellent physical condition with very few and very minor scrathces.

Lot: 1 SONY D-50 Diskman, 1 SONY AC-D50 AC adapter base (provides RCA type line output connectors and powers the unit), 1 EBP-9LC Battery case (Designed to provide battery power to the unit and, to protect it when using it portable and to re-charge the rechargeable battery. There is a battery door, but the inner battery case is missing and thus does not powwer the unit - in order to operate it, use the AC adaptor)
