Description: This Teac Deck was made in the good old days for quality and was among of the top of the line models. It is made ruggedly and features a 4 head 3 motor transport with autoreverse function - so it will play in both directions without the need to turn the tape over. Transport and electronics in this machine are actually 2 separate chassis with 2 separate model numbers. The Amplifer electronics module is model number: AR-40S. This machine is in perfect working condition and was completely overhauled fo ryears of trouble free service. Both pinch roller and main capstan belt were recently replaced.
Features: • 3 (4) head - 3 Motor Transport • Works with reels up to 7" • Will play and record at 7 1/2, 3 3/4, IPS • Will record and play back in quarter track fromat • Will record in stero or mono (mono: 1 track at the time) • 4 heads: 3 for forward direction: 1 Erase head. 1 Recording head, 1 Playback head, plus 1 Playback head for reverse play • All functions are soldenoid and relay controlled - there is a plug in back for a wired remote control • The unit provides a 2 pairs of stereo inputs that can be mixed: line level + microphone Inputs • Each of the 4 input chanels is controlled by a separate potentiometer section. • The unit provides a headphone jack and a source / tape switch to monitor the just recorded signal •
Detailled Physical Features: FRONT PANEL: Operation push buttons: Rewing/ Revers, "FAST" button to shift betwen play and fast forward / rewind functions, Stop button; FRONT PANEL RIGHT SIDE: Power switch with Power indicator lamp, Tape Speed Selector buttons: 3 3/4 IPS and 7 1/2 IPS, Tape Counter; Amplifier Electronics: 1/4" Mic input jacks, Mic input levle controls, Line input level controls, VU meters, chanel record selectror push buttons, Tape monitor switch: source / tape, playback level output control, headphone jack. REAR: Wired remote control Input jack, AC power Input Jack, Fuse holder with Votage selector (Yes,this machine can be used at variosu different world voltages), Electronics Chassis: RCA input jacks, DIN input/output jack, RCA Output jacks.
Condition: Excellent working condition - machine recently completely overhauled. The pinch roller and the main drive belt ar ein excelent conditon (recently replace) work included: a complete cleaning and lubrication job on all mechanical parts - which inclcuded rework for the common "pichroller assembly stuck" problem; All potentiometers and swtiched deoxydized and lubricated, electroic calibrations checked and tweaked. The heads of this machine show some wear (it is almost impossible to find a deck without head wear these days), but they are worn very even (previous owner did an excellent maintenance job) so the heads perform flawless! A great machine with a great life expectancy fo ryears of trouble free service! Physical Condition: (Very Clean, but the wooden case has a few minor dings - it probalby was moved sevweral times. The playback level control knob at it's outer ring has a piece broken off. The plexiglass dust cover has a piece broken out (not directly visible), Otther than that: the machine has no scratches or damages, - and if it was not for the mentioned items, this machine would be perfect!

Description: The SONY TC-378 is a open reel tape deck with rather rare features: 3 head design while providing the rare 1 7/8" speed. The perfect machine for tape transfer projects, for analog recording, or to listen to old tapes. This deck was refurbished with a thorough job and performs like when it was new. It's ferite / ferite hgeads, show virtually no wear and perform flawlessly. The machine is offered here in great and reliably working condition! This unit offers RCA jacks, but also provides a European DIN jack to integrate with other audio equipment. The unit can be configured to work worldwide on different voltages by means of a selector switch. The TC-378 open reel deck can be used in Stereo or in Dual Mono mode. This machine is built well with quality material choices, built heavey duty and reliable to last for many decades! All mechanical parts are metal and plastic is used quite sparingly. The TC-378 is made with clsose attention to detail, and is easy to operate. I completely overhauled this unit for top perfomance and lasting reliability
Technical details: this machine can be used in stereo, or the 2 tracks can be recorded separately with a mono signal on each track. Record form any audio source - The unit features: Mic and line level! inputs that can be mixed separately. This machine features 3 speeds: 1 7/8 IPS, 3 3/4 IPS and 7 1/2 IPS. This machine featurs 4 track assignment (also reffered to as quarter track - meaning that the tape can be turned over to record on the reverse side. This machine can handle reels up to 7".

Condition: This machine probalby was used only moderatewly andappears to have been storredmost of the time resulting in all mechanical and parts that usually wear (and are worn on machines of simmilar age!) to be in great conditon. A lot of work went into this machine never the less, to provide a great and reliably workign piece of gear. WORK
PERFORMED to recondtion this unit: ELECTRONICS: All controls, contacts and switcheds were deoxydized and lubricated. Electrononic (levles, bias, etc.) and mechanical adjustment were erformed. MECHANICS: All mechanincal parts have been checked and reworked where needed: remove old lubrication and re-lubricate, all mechnical parts were lubricated, springs tensioned.
The heads of this machine are in perfect condition and recording and playback are stable and rock solid! High frequnecies are well reproduced and recorded. This machine was throroughly tested, tweaked and performs reliably! The machine is in perfect mechanic and electronic condition, PHYSICAL condition: minor signs of age and use, such as light scratches, ehich can be only detected upon close inspection. There are no disturbing scratches on the face plate etc. The outer transparent plastic cover (not shown) of this unit is not perfect and has several imperfections, such as cracks, break outs and cracks. Otherwise this machine is clean and looks great!

Work performed on this deck: All belts were replaced. All electrolytic capacitors were replaced (Old original parts that were pulled included!). All controls and switches were deoxydized, re-soldered aged solder joints; Heads. pinch roller and elements in tape path were cleaned and de-magnetized; The complete meachinsm was carefully inspected, re-lubricated and re-worked to perform properly. Physical cleaning and detail work. The machine plays and records very well. If I woudl charge for the work that went into this deck it woudl be about a $175 job.

The unit operates with 6 vintage Germanium transistors. This is a complete set: the deck, the original compatible Mic , and a custom made AC power supply.

In order to optimize sound quality and proper operation with the incluuded AC power supply I modified the electronics by inserting a voltage regulator into the power circuit of this deck. The machine plays and records very well. If I would charge for the work that went into this deck it woudl be about a $155 job.

Made in the USA by or for Robins Electronics Corporation (Catalog number THC-5 - N274D219). It is silicone treated fabric and the box says: "Silicone Treated cloth tape cleans heads and guides of recorder when played"

-These adapters are used to mount 10" reels on decks that are equipped wit the standard 7" reel mount, but sizewise can handle 10.5" tapes.
While these parts are made by TEAC to fit Teac decks, such as the 3300SX and many others, these adapters should fit almost any machine made by various manufactueres, as these fit any mechaism that would mount 7" reels. Only 1 pair availalbe and once sold gone. Excellent physical condition.

Tape Head Demagnetizing Coils (Original vintage!)
These vintage tap head demagnetizers are for all equipment that uses magnetic recordign media. The playing of magnetized tape amgnetizes heads over time and results in loss of high frequencies and hiss. Magnetized heads can also partially erase some apscts of the original recoding and thus may damage vintage recording. Professionls use head demagnetizers about every 10 play hours to main tain full interity of their equipment. Here is the needed tool - vintage all original from the good old days of analof recordings!

About 100 years old! Here is an antique relic original from the beginning days of sound recordings! Edison invented the phongraph and cylindrical records were the first to appear at the turn of the cnetury. These record have survived time and are from the inventor's factory and "record label". My work aimes for highest quality. I charge: - by the hour, - by a special dicount rate per day, if your project takes more than a day of work time, - at a further discounted rate, if your project takes more than 3 days.
I also sell refurbished quality reel to reel decks.
Rule of thumb: If wishing to receive CD’s (or MP3’s) where each tune / piece from a tape can be accessed as a separate track on a CD, an average work/transfer time double of the material length (or: play time can) be expected. In other words: Required transfer work time averages aproximately double the PLAY TIME of the material recorded on your tapes.
- different recording levels or different tonal qualities on the same tape, (tape was recorded on different machines, or at different times, or have great variation of material on the tape)
- sound quality poor or varies (may add considerably to the time it takes to process, as each change requires time to readjust processing).
- Poor quality recordings (set-up time for equalisation / resotration and post processing)
- Tunes merge into each other; talk over the beginning or ending of materials etc.
- Poor quality tape materials: aged tapes that are brittle, have loose tape partices, are torn, have wrinkles, are tearing apart easily, or a chemically contaminated, were storred in poor environments, etc.
