AMAZING SOUND!

Vintage 1976 Analog Beat Box

Original - Vintage Analog Silicon Transistor Sound!

Description: The Hammond FR-2D is one of the first full electronic automatic Rhythm machines. This unit came out of a vintage Hammond tube tone wheel organ - thus no case. I converted this unit to work completely stand alone: It has a built-in power suppy (110V Ac) and a 1/4" audio outptu jack - plug and play!
This machines features analog sythesis technology for 11 instruments and offers 15 buttons to select differrent rhythms that can be combined by pressing in several buttons for thousands of rhythm combintations. These machines were manufactured in Japan and designed by the same guy who later founded Roland Corporation. There are definitely simmilarities to later Roland analog rhythm machines. This unit uses silicon transistors, and for drum sound genrations huge coils and a nois source for the cymbal type instruments. There are 2 elements: the rythm "computer" (PCB in the middle section, which is constructed with silicon transistors and vintage silicone diodes. The drum sound module (PCB in the right section) is constucted with huge coils and a noise source for cymbal type instruments. There are trimmer potentiometers to adjust each of the instruments.

The sound is truely convincing vintage-electronic and reminds of Jean Michelle Jarre 70's Oxygene relases. It can't get any betther than this: if seeking vintage electronic sound this is your machine! The snare sounds almost identical to later Roland equipment. The machine incorporates silicone transistors and circuits refference ground to positive.

This machine is unique is king in terms of sounds and rhythms. This is a fully featured luxurious machine compared to other stand alone rhythm machines availalbe at the time.

Dimensions: (aprox.) W: 26" D: 9" H: 1.75" (aprox.)

Work that went into this machine to present it as shown: Custom built and installed power supply, added a standard 3 prong power cable connector (includes AC line filter!), replaced aged electrolytic capcitors (to prevent defects in the future) and other aged parts, added 1/4 audio outptu jack and impedance switch (selects audio outptut between Hi and Low), installed LEDs for power and beat indicators (originla lams burn out - LEDs fo rlong term reliability), deoxydized and lubricated controls and switches. Electronic adjustments. Thoroughly testested (I used it for more than a year!).

Lot: 1 vintage Hammond autorhythm FR-2D Rhythm Unit, chassis only without casing or knobs for volume / tempo, as shown.

Price: $ 225.00 Machine Plug and Play - Ready to use! (If considering the amount of work that went into this machine the price covers barely the labor alone, that went into it. Great value for your money!)

Description: The sound generation circuitry of this vintage drum box is all analog (transistors, no ICs). My attempt to bring you vintage American made analog electronic beatbox sounds for less. There are 7 rhytms that can be freely combined by pushing in several buttons at once and a varaition switch with 4 positions, that breaks the monotone patterns usually found in beatboxes with a break. This feature can be turned off or exteneded over 1/2, 1. 2. 4. measures. There are the usual output level and tempo controls. Instruments in this unit include: Snare drum, Bass Drum, Cymbal, Brush, Claves, Conga. The base rhythms (7 push buttons) are: Watz, Ballad, Rock, Jazz, Western, Latin. The unit cinsits of a chassis and a front panel (loose), but is ready to produce sound plug an dplay: I custom built a power supply for it and include a power adapter (wallwart type - can be substituted for other than 110V US voltages) and I added a 1/4" output for reglar recording equipment, amplifer and organ hook-up. For adidtional cost, I can offer to custom build a case for this unit and to finish it for a regular .
A great machine if original vintage electronic drum sounds are desired. Great fo rany electronic music studio, for the dance enthusiast, of for the vintage organist.
