Description: Here we have a piece of quality recording equipment in excellent condition! Transfer your old / inherrited open reel tapes, even at the very hard to find 1 7/8 spped! The main features that set this recorder apart from other recorders are: auto reverse, reverse recording, excellent sound wirth high resolution and 1 7/8" tape speep in addition to the usual 3 3/4 or 7 1/2 IPS. This open reel tape recorder was made in Japan (parts indicate in about 1966) by Panasonic at a time when Japanese electronics yet had to establish themselves, competing among equipment of the highest quality only! The design approach therefore, and this unit is no expeption, had to be, to perform to highest quality standards and to be built ruggedly and to last. And it has lasted - 42 years old and still performes briliantly and reliably! Thus this machine is not comparable to anything made today - It will even outperform your iPod in sound quality! Yet, at the same time this tape recorder is very simple and easy to operate. It is a self contained unit providing it's own amplification system and speakers, yet can be used in connection with other audio equipment to transfer or record audio materials. This recorder can be also used as a stand-alone stereo audio amplifier to amplify another piece of equipment connected to it. The speakers are 2 way systems, which means they have a low / mid range driver and separate tweater - both with alnico magnets. Speakar cables extend to about 10 feet and the sound quality of this system is astonishing: detail and resoltion. Although as typical for equipment of the aera: A bit weak on the volume of the bass. This specimen in in excelent condition with low mileage on the heads. Get it before it's gone. Features (Detail:): 3 Speed: 1 7/8", 3 3/4" and 7 1/2 IPS Repaired and restorred including: electronics work, mechanical work. Can handle tape reel sizes up to 7" 3.5 mm Microphone inputs - built-in Microphone pre-amplifier. Line inputs and output to interconnect with other audio equipment Can be used as a stanalone amplifier / amplification system. Amplifier / electronics constructed with Germanium transistors - Ground positive. External speaker jacks Stereo / Mono switch Record in stereo, or each track separately (selective recod buttons) Input controls - separate, one per chanel Headphone Jack (labeled "Monitor" located on back panel) Speaker switch: Allows to mute speakers to eliminate feeedback during recording. Tone controls for each chanel 2 Way speaker ssystems: Mid/low range speaker + tweeter with alnico magnets. Portable suitcase design in sturdy case with handle. Tape Counter, 4 digit, can be reset 117V AC 60 Hz. Reel size up to 7" ![]() |
Condition: This machine is in excellent mechanical, physical and electronic condition. Even though it was in excellent condition to begin with, about 9 hours of labor went into it to restore it to reliably working condition. The heads of this machine are excellent condition and show low usage / wear. Recording and playback are excellent. The high frequencies are stable and consistent (low headwear!) Physical condition of this unit: overall very good to excellent. The unit has a few signs of age and usage: minor scratches on the exterior tolex of the case. The face plate is very clean and does not show visible signs of age or usage, unless carefully searching with a magnifying glass. The black tolex of the case is slightly loose at a few spots at the edges. There is a plastic door that covers the coiled up speaker wire of each speaker. On one speaker, this door is broken off. I am happy to provide high resolution images for those who seriously consider purchasing this unit. Work performed to present this unit in full and reliably working condition: The complete tape transport mechanism was reworked: many mechanical parts were removed, cleaned and re-lubricated. Idler wheels and belts were tested and reconditioned, springs and other parts replaced where necessary. Performed various mechnical adjustments. All controls, switches, trimmer potentiometers, contacts, jacks and interal switches were deoxydized and lubricated. The electrolytic filter capacitor in the power supply was replaced in this unit (!) for long term reliability. Full functional test: OK - 100%. Physical Cleaning and detail work. The work actually performed on this unit exceeds $325 by far! Vintage ProTools / MIDI Recording System Complete Audio/MIDI Music Production Station ![]() Overview: Digidesign PorTools Hardware + Software Non Linear Multi Track Recording / Sequnecing / Editing Full MIDI sequnecing and editing Sound Design Station Hardware Sampler w/ 8 Outputs Included - Digidesign SampleCell Patch editor and librarian for external MIDI synths / devices Much more! Complete Production Station: create a full quality product from recording to outputing to CD! Application of this system: I have recorded, editited and sequenced all sort of audio material form various sources, including direct transfers form DAT (SoundDesigner, ProTools V3.0, 3.2. 3.4, Deck, SoundEdit PRO, Audioshop - All included). I have processed and enhanced audio material (filter bundle included with SoundDesigner: ultra maximizer, Parametric EQ, for get the third). I have designed my own sounds for the Sample Cell sampler. The sample cell card can bew triggered from any controller controller that you connect to the the Studio4 and works just like a standard sampler. In adidtion you can design your own sounds and change things verry quickly. I also have designed sounds and programs for various AKAI samplers, that I had over the years on this station (D-SoundPro and MESA inclcuded) - yes, the machine transfers directly to the sampler, even to the Roland samplers. I have created, managed, archived and restorred patches on my various synthesizers and MIDI gear (Galaxy, SoundDiver included - work flawless with the Studio4 MIDI interface; Various sysex transfer utilities etc. included as well). I have mastered and published commercial Audio CDs to red book standard (MasterlistCD, Adaptect JAM, included), I have backed up and arived all my digital files for all my projects (TOAST and DC Burner included). I have been less a MIDI recordist than recording what I played directly live to audio: but professional fully featured complex MIDI software is included: StudioVision and for quick, and dirty work TRAX). there is probably more that I can't think off right now. |
Description: This vintage PowerMacintosh based Music production system offers all the hardware and software needed to record and produce professional recordings suitable for CD publication. While perfect for recording of original music, this system works also extremely well for media transfers, such as when transferring form opne reel tape, vintage vinyll or similar media ot the digital realm. Professional software is included to post process audio material in the digial realm. But also Radio programers, radio commercial producers and audio arhivists will find what they are looking for. The core of this audio system is hardware made in the USA by Digidesign and bases on ProTools hardware. The included 442 audio interface is one of the nicest quality and sweetest sounding hardware pieces digidesgn ever made. It uses European quality components and definitely compares and even stands out in sound quality, compared to equipment made today, if one compares at the same sample rate and bit resolutions @ 44.1 Khz 16 Bit - CD quality. In a few words: I bought the finest equipment available at the time and for the whole system I spend in the $15 000 range to put all of this all together. I probably could write pages and pages of detail information, but leave it at this. If interested please inquire. Lot Description: Hardware List: ProTools 442 interface - allows to record up to 4 chanels simuultaniously - up to 48 Khz 16 bit - 4 ins, 4 outs - has digital in/out as well (have original boxes for the digidesign hardware, if I can find them) Opcode Studio 4 MIDI interfcae: 8 Physical inputs and outptuts for 128 MIDI chanles Digidesign Sample Cell Card - Hardware Sampler with 8 Outptuts - maxed out RAM Maxed out PowerMacintosh 8100/100 Computer with Zip Drive (various upgrades over the years), CD burner included, Ethernet External Hard Drives: 512 Mb for audio related software and Sample Cell creations, 2 GB internal Hard Drive for recording, External 4 GB Hard Drive for recording, 1 GB drive to booot form another system version - this system optimized for web/general usage versus sound recording) External Yamaha CDR-100 CD burner The computer monitor was made by Dell and has a standard PC connector - a quality adapter form MAC to PC is included (has switches and selection wheel, to adapt vaious screen sizes and monitors - makes almost any mointor work with this machine! In other words you don't need this particular monitor) Various Cables adapters and connectors (shown). Inquire for further details, if needed. ![]() |
Software List: (with original boxes and manuals, complete in most cases, original discs etc, parial list): ProTools 3.2 PowerMix SoundDesigner 2.7 StudioVision with Galaxy SampleCell Software Sample Cell Sound Library: 3 Sound sample CDs OMS 73 floppy disks are included, of which about 2/3 are original manufacturer's disks Other software installed on the computer (no manuals disks etc. - will leave on, so that you can evaluate if to purchase these items, if useful): For these items see paragraph "applications of this system". There is more. Other Items included: All the original paper work that has accumulated over the years. A monitor extenson cable that would allow to place the monitor far away from the computer. Condition: Excellent. All in fully working condition. There is one quirk with the computer, but if known not a problem, and all is otherwise perfect: After powering the computer off, but leaving the main power supply on the power strip on: the computer won't come back on, but if tunring the power strip off, leaving it off after using the system and tunring the power strip on before the system is power up the computer will come on every time. This is repeatable and completley reliable and has been working like that for years. To fix it (not really needed): a new power supply for the computer may be needed, but possibly could be that the internal backup battery on the motherboard needs to be replaced. This computer sold "as is" with this problem, as I have too much work load, to mess with it. Just to say it once more: the computer turns on reliably every time at the first push of the power button, when tunring the main power strip on before pressing the power button for the computer. Shipping Note: As this is quite a bit of gear to ship, I am offering: while technically the 18" computer monitor (perfect condition) and the hardware stand (I fabricated with 2 x 4s + top and bottom plywood plates, center shelf for monitor, put together with dry wall screws) are included: Likely it is more expensive to ship these items than getting a replacement for these items at your place locally. Please tell me, if you want a shipping quote with OR without these items. Please note: The price for this system before shipping will stay the same, regardless of wanting these items or not. | ©2008 ultraelectronicactiv.com Description: This original 1986 SONY WALKMAN (part number: Part number: 3-341-445- ) comes in it's original box, includes all the original accesories, including the owner's manual, and fully works - with low milage on the heads! Just like it's bigger brother the WM D6C or TC-D6C this unit comes in a fine metal enclosure, features somewhat similar construction and definitely is a fine piece of equipment. The unit allows to record by means of the included external plug-in power one point stereo microphpone, or form the built in radio, which features FM stereo and AM. Compact Cassettes (regular audio cassettes) are played in both directions (reverse) and there is a playback Dolby system. ©2008 ultraelectronicactiv.com Detailled Physical Features: FRONT PANEL: Door lock, Rewind, Fast Forwind, Stop/Eject, Play and Record Buttons, AM/FM switch, TOP PANEL: Tape run indicator LED, Direction button, repat mode switch: play once / play continuously, PB EQ: NORM / CrO2, 3.5 mm Plug-in power stereo Mic Jack, DOLBY NR (PB) switch: OFF/ON, 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack; Lower section of the top panel: indent to open cassette compartment, tuning wheel, function switch: Tape (radio off / Local / DX; REAR Panel: Volume control wheel, ISS switch: 1 / 2/ 3, Print: Model number, Key features and DOLBY note; Bottom: removable battery case ©2008 ultraelectronicactiv.com Usefulness of this recorder: This unit is primarily a collectors item, unless used for listening primarily. Compared to the WM D6C, the recording quality of this model is much less sophisticated, as the D6 uses better heads and AC bias, compared to this model, which uses a permanent magnet to erase previous recordings. The microphone pre-amplifier of the D6 is much better as well. Facit: The WM-F200 is not well suitable for studio quality recordings. In recordings on this model a quality difference between the original signal and the played back signal can be noticed. It should however be fine for recording of high level sounds, such as for annotations, sketch-pad for ideas, recordings of conversations, etc. But maybe I am spoiled by having used PRO-gear all of my life. I am just mentioning this, so that you won't be disappointed. ©2008 ultraelectronicactiv.com Top Garage Main Listen to Music by Rising Star Home Also available: Recording Equipment Repair, Restoration and Modification Repair parts and accesories for UHER portable PRO tape recorders 12AU7 Vacuum Tubes Turn Table Parts + Acessories |

2. TEAC V-40 Description: I agree: Maybe one can find a used tape deck elsewhere for less money, but not in this condition! Here the story: I always treasured music and found yet another box of cassette tapes a couple of weeks ago, that I had recorded decades ago and wanted to digitize - yet had just sold my last tape deck. So: I went out to find a decent deck to do a quality job. I found this deck, which was made before cassette decks were made cheaply. This is a quality deck, that is plain and simple yet features the quality I was looking for. It has a high quality head, even Mic inputs and a headphone jack. As I wanted the highest sound quality possible I decided to rework this deck - now completely restored with a new head, new belts and all of the calibrations and the needed work performed. This deck is a rock solid performer with great sound quality, and now that I am done digitizing my tapes I am offering this deck to you, for less than what it would have cost, if I billed for the restoration work Work performed to restore this unit: The record playback head was replaced with a custom matched almost new head of the same quality than the head, that was preciously installed, Head allignments. All belts and the pinch roller were replaced, Motor and mechanical parts lubricated, switches and controls deoxydized, weak solder points re-soldered, All electronic calibrations tested and re-calibrated, physical cleaning and detail work - This work is worth about $190 ! And it paid off: This deck has a very linear and stable frequency response with clear and stable highs - Among the best of what I have seen for cassette decks. Detailled Physical Features: FRONT PANEL: (left to right, top to bottom): Power switch, Eject button; Record, Rewind, Play, Forward, Stop, Pause, Record mute buttons, Tape Counter with Reset button,; Record, Pause and Dolby indicator LEDs; 2 Chanel 12 LED VU meters, Dolby in/out switch; Input Selectos: Line, Mic; Tape type bias selector buttons: Normal, CrO2, Metal, Recording level controls (2 gang for L, R); 1/4" jacks for: Mic L, Mic R, Headphones, REAR; Audio cables (permanently attached) with RCA plugs (line level audio outputs: L R, Line Level audio Inputs: L, R) , Power Cable Condition: Electronics / Mechanical: Re-Worked (see "Work Performed" and "Description" above) Physical: Looks almost like new, excellent condion and nice appearance - very clean! I was palnning to refurbish this unit for my own usage, but if things continue as they have been I just will never get to it. This unit mainly needs power supply added, as the original toroid transformer was unavailable. I already found an external power supply module that works and it will need to be hooked up. Besides this, all else works. AS it is som eyears ago that I worked on it the unti may possibly benefit from soem cleaning of contacts etc. Asides from light dust, this unit is in good to excellent excellent condition.
