Description: This 8 Track recorder and player is soemwhat unusual as it provides it's own bult-in amplifier to use it stand alone as a stereo system - hook up speakers and voila! But it also operates as a recording / playback deck to add to any stereo system, as it provides line level RCA in and outputs. Prefect for the vintage car enthusisat who wishes to recrod his own 8 Track tapes to play on the original player in his car!
Here we have a refurbished and re-worked specimen in excellent condition. This machine has a reliable mechnanism that handles tapes well. The heads are perfect with very little wear on them - perfect for recording, or transfer your old tapes to digital! This machine can't get any better: It appears have been used modest and in adidtion I re-worked this unit so that it is at it's peak. (see work performed below). This deck offers a very useful feature that I have not seen in other 8-Track recorders before: There is an extensive pre-set function knob that allows to pre-program with 6 settings how tracks will be recorded / played (!): If repeat the selcted program over and over, if to run continuously throuhg the tape form beginning to end over and over again, if to stop at the beginning of track or program: 1, 2, 3, 4 - in other words to stop the tape at the beginning of the next program. These features are great for recordings and mind you: it works very well untatteneded due to this automatic feature! This unit was made in Japan with the model number DRP-801 but was distributed under different names. This unit's brand name is Diamond.
It is my pleasure to present this wonderful piece of historic audio recording equipment in perfect and reliably working condition. The heads are low mileage and this recorder was reworked, now ready for your vintage music pleasures.

Detailled Features: • FRONT PANEL: (left to right, bottom to top): Headphone jack, 3.5 mm Mic input jacks, recording button (depress before cartridge is inserted), program/trackselector button, Fast forward button, Volume L, R knobs; Tape loading slot with track/program indicator lights, Play control selector knob with auto stop indicator above; toen control knob, VU meters with recording indicator above; REAR; • 6 RCA jacks: L,R Speakers Out, L,R Line Out, L,R AUX IN; 5 pin DIN PB/REC input/output; Power chord. Physical details: Alluminum face plate, aluminum slot cover door, Finished ply wood casing, feet.
Work performed to restore this unit: Repaired one channel not working; Replaced the belt. I de-oxidised all controls, contacts and switches, Cleaned and de-magnetized the head; re-lubricated mechanical parts. I re-soldered aged solder points in the electronics of this unit - about 80% of all solder points. Replaced several electrolytic capacitors. -> Preventive measure to support reliable performance! My detail oriented work took more than 6 hours of labour and about $25 in parts - which the askign price does not cover - actual work much more! Physical cleaning and detail work.
Condition: • Electronics / Mechanical: Repaired / Re-worked (see detail above) The recording and playback quality is perfect: even and nice quality with good and consitent highs highs. • Physical: nice appearance - clean and lush, some minor dings in the wooden case ( corners mainly - not very noticeable). Heads almost no wear, but are in perfect condition.

Description: This vintage stereo 8 Track Cartrdidge tape player stands out form other 8 Track players as it provides front panel head azimuth adjustment to fine tune head tracking for optimal sound. This is of great advantage when planning to transfer you old 8 Track tapes to the digital realm. Everyone has experienced the problem that adjacent tracks bleed through or that highs are not as bright as they could be. This adjustment feature addresses just that. This deck was fully refurbished, meaning that it was not only repaired, internal working restorred and cleaned, but ALL of the electrolytic capacitors in it were replaced as well for vibrant sound like when the unit was new. The head of this unit has only modest wear for reliable performance. The mechanism of this unit is constructed with a heavey duty AC synchronus motor that handles even difficult tapes well.

Description: This vintage stereo 8 Track Cartrdidge tape player was fully refurbished. While most items at other places selling as refurbished simply have a replaced belt and lubrication, I in addition replaced ALL of the aging electrolytic cpacitors in this unit to adress performance and long term reliability issues. The head of this unit has very little wear, making this a unit that comes very close in performance to when it was new. I also reworked internal contacts and switches. I re-worked the tape transport's mechanical parts.Where do you find a unit in this condiiton? If looking for a 8 Track Player that will last: This is the one! Transfer your old 8-Track tapes, listen to music that has not bene listened to in a long time. Just to mention it: 8-Track tapes can usually be found very inexpensively at thrift stores to bring back music long lost and not released on CD - A very exciting hobby - and here is the equipment ot get into it! Music on 8-Tack tapes is usually fairly high sound quality as the tape speed is higher than on a cassette deck!
