Description: I am completely intreagued by the looks, uniqueness and style of this amplifier. Whrn listening to it I emidieatly thought that it's toen control was perfect for guitar, so I wnet ahead and tested it and low and bewhold: A great truly vintage soundign guitar amp - so I went ahead and did the work: 1/4" input, Agrounded power scheme to make it safe for guitar, addeded a power jack so that regular standard power chords can be used..Then I improved stability of the legs, so that it won't fall over when on stage and instead of the dim pilot lamp I installed a supper bright green LED so that anybody knows this unit is ready to rock. while not a loud amp it has a very sweet tone that melts harshness and brings one right back to the 50's. difernet time - different feeel. Definitely. So: two 6V6 tubes, nice vintage Alnico speakers with tweeters to have a nice upper end and this unit has MOJO: Paint etc. are worn and make you right at home with it. If you want to pay extra, I can add: tremolo and reverb. Features: 1/4" Input, 12" Quam Alnico speaker, 2 x Utah 5" alnico tweeters, tubes: 2 x 6V6, 5Y3, 12AX7, 6AU6; Trebble (with power switch) knob, Bass knob, "Balance" knob (or rather: Volume knob). Power input connector for standard grounded equipment power cables. 2 6V6 Tubes produce about 25-30Watts peak output power or about 16 Watts RMS. |
Condition: Physical: Nicely worn and looks great - I can e-mail larger photos. ELECTRONIC / WOKING: Nicely working, sounds great. Pots and tube sockets re-worked. No issues. This unit has not been used very much over it's life: It still has it's original vintage tubes in it that originally came with it when first sold, which are good. Dimensions, (aprox.): 142" (W) x 7" (D) x 6" (H). Lot: 1 Silvertone vintage vacuum tube amplifier as shown and described above. Needless to say: A one of a kind item and when sold gone. Description: This amplifier came out of a very expensive US made organ, that was made in the time of the Hippie aera here in the USA. Original point to point wired and laid out just like tube amplifiers, but vintage solid state circuitry with signal coupling transformers and othe rvintage parts is used. How much closer can one get to vintage sound? I decided to make this amplifier usable for a variety of applications by adding 1/4" input and output jacks to it, so go ahead and just plug it in - nothing else needed. It has 2 independant chanles and it can be used for stereo or bi-ampeld applications, such as for a 2 chanel Leslie. I also added a power switch and it is all complete. As it is, it provides an additional Leslie output for a "Electro Music 251" tone cabinet. So: it shoudl not be hard to use thsi amp in conjunction with anyt Leslie, but it really shoudl be usabel where ever a power amp is needed. Just to mention it: If you want to use this unit to power any pre-amplifier circuitry: this originally served as a power supply as well and there is ample power available (need electronics skills though to acces.) Dimensions, (aprox.): 21 1/2" (W) x 14" (D) x 31" (H). Features: 2 1/4" input jacks. 2 1/4" output jacks for speakers (thsi unit was driving 8 Ohm speakers). Output power: estimated 2 x 30 W. hardwired power cable, operates on 117V AC. Power switch and externally accessible fuse. 251 tone cabinet connection jack. Description: This US made tube amplifer is lableled as "Combo amplifier, as it actually covers quite a wide frequency range: a !2" speaker to cover the "low range for bass (cmopared to the usual 8" and 10" speakers usually found in single eneded amplifiers). The speaker also has a metal center cone to extend well into the mid-high range to reproduce vocals acuarately and there is a "Microphone" input on the front panel. Thus this amplifer is well suited for guitar with a bottom end. The tone control seems to consider that. In thsi amplife ryou get the tone and simplicity of a snbgle ended low powered design combined with vesitility not found in other amplifiers. The low powered circuit is quite pure in sound as so simpe and gives bass a unique tone. Ther eis no lablelling on who actually made this amp but my guess would be Valco. Besides the "Combo Bass Amp" unfortunatel ythere is no model number either. If I would guess this amplifier is likely made in the late 60's. A unique little amp great for practissing, recording or gigs in cozy places. I like this amp - it has a nice simple circuit. there is beauty in simplicity. Amp Physical / Operational Features: Beauty in simplicity: FRONT: 3 inputs: 2 "instrument" and 1 Microphone (higher gain), Volume and Tone Controls, power switch - That's it! REAR: 2 Outptuts (I do not kno wif original, but I changed one jack to be switcheable: Insert into one jack to get the internal and th eextrenal speaker, or insert into the other jack and get the external speaker only. Tubes: 12AX7, 7591, vintage solid state rectifiers. Speaker: Vintage 12" Rola speaker (Model: PA-12-8, numbers on th emagnet of the speaker: 28570 and 2857644. Ceramic Magnet, alluminum dust cap. Work performed to present this amplifier in it's current condition: when I got this amp the wiring was a mess. Originally this amp seemed to have had a power switch, that was connected to the volum epotnetiometer. Aparently that quit and someone added a switch located in the center of the panel. The installed switch was bad and the wiring connected to it was dangerous to electricute the player. Furthermore a stange in-line fuse was added that easily shorted against the chassis to become a murder weapon to kill a potenial player of this amp for certain! Further more It seems to me that the speaker output jacks at the rear were added and wire up with a really lousy wiring job as well. I took the opportunity to completely re-wire all of it form ground zero and to make this amp safe, bring out it's full sound and to make ready for professional stage use. Here what I did: Added a chassis mounted fuse holder and re-wired the power chord with a 3 prong grounded cables to update this amp to todays safet standards. (Although I could not help it replace th epower chord with a vintage 3 prong 3 conductor chord in good condition aproximatley form the same age for MOJO!) I replaced the power switch with another working vintage switch and re-wired some of the high voltage wiring. I useed the correct gage of wiring and also copletely re-worked the wiring to the speaker and to the speaker output jacks with high quality professional wiring. I took the opportunity to replace one of the 2 jacks in back with a switched one that allows now to use either the internal speaker, an external speaker only, or both:the internal and an external speakers together. Once all the wiring was perfect I completely overhauled the amp, tested it's components, cleaned all contacts, pots tube sockets anf re-tensioned the tube sockets. The amp now is a solid, safe and reliable performer with great sound! Physical cleaning and detail work. Condition: Physical: some signs of wear and the usual blemishes of age - after all this amp is roadwsie, but it looks really quite nice! Tolex all complete with some minor tears. In perfectly working condition; Reworked as described above. Dimensions, (aprox.): 19" (W) x 8 1/2" (D) x 19 1/2" (H). Lot: 1 Vintage US made bass/combo amplifer as described above. Advantages of the original design: has separate power switch, wich allows to leave the volume setting where it was when powering on/off. Multi function external speaker jacks for more versitily and tone. Electrical witing safety update to today's standards. Price: $375.00, Buy Inquire about larger Images |

Description: A 12W high efficiency precision guitar amp, aimed at reproducing detail and clarity of an instrument. This was originally an amplifier module from a tube organ that I modified. Physically I added a power chord (instead of tits weird original jack), added input and output jacks and a volume and tone control knob (equipped with chicken head knobs) (Remark: tone control was added after the photo was taken and is not shown here). A main fuse was added and a fuse holder Electronically I pulled every capacitor possible and eliminated it or replaced it with European ones. A high capacity Power supply filter cap was added (200 uf), most of the wiring was replaced with low interference wire, Star ground was implemented. Just to mention it: Output tubes are used in triode mode and feedback loop is reduced to absolute minimum. Also available: Tube amp Repair and Modification e-mail me Price: Check Out ThisTube Amplifier for Guitar or Harp Vintage Audio Equipment Repair, Restoration and Modification Top Equipment Home Listen to Music by Rising Star Home Contact me. |
I also added a passive no feedback tone control which can be bypassed and taken out of the circuit by pulling the tone control knob out. The level is reduced when on, as the passive circuitry reduces the signal. Adjustment emphasizes bass and reduces highs when fully counterclockwise. It blends smoothly to emphasized highs and reduction in bass. The Result: A nicely transparent amp, clear and present in every detail. Features: Input jack, Volume control, tone control, active if pulled - passive and out of circuit when pushed, a switching speaker output (switches amp into standby mode when no speaker is connected. this is: Only transformer is on, heater current off, High Voltage off) 12W output power. Tubes: 12AX7, 12AU7, 2 6AQ5, 6X4 Condition: sounds excellent as confirmed by several guitar friends of mine! Cosmetics: 9/10, A few holes where original jacks and connectors used to be. Lot: amplifier fully tubed (all 60s tubes that came in the amp). A 50s Newcomb cabinet with 12" speaker. Price: $249.00 Buy More Tube Guitar Amplifiers |
Description: I hand built this versitile single ended tube guitar amp from a piece of early 50's audio gear. Design considerations were to build a standalone low wattage guitar amplifier for recording and practisse aplications, yet powerful enough to be used for solo or duo live performances in small veunes. My goal was to provide an amplifer somewhat simmilar to the Fender Priceton or Champ iamps in warmth of sound and tone, yet to build an amplifier that produces extraordinary detail in sound. I beleive I succeded: Everyone who has played and listened to this amplifer liked it and commneted on it's warmth and sound quality! Now this rig distinguished itself from other amplifers in its class by several features, which makes it very versitile: Cabinet and amplifer are two separate units allowing to place the cabinet away from the player. The cabinet is original and has a 12" vintage speaker installed for lower frequnecy response and the true vintage tone. The cabinet can be opned and closed to adjust the tonal qualities for personal prefference The amplifer provides a small 4" internal vintage speaker with alnico magnet to be used as a practisse amp, or for special recording situations. The amplifier has a 1/4" speaker connector jack, which allows: to operate the internal and the external speaker / cabinet simultaniously when the plug is inserted half way (monitor applications, or for more highs) Any cabinet can be connected to the external speaker jack for tonal prefferences in recording applications Circuitry implemented without electronic feedback neither in tone control, nor in the output.(Which also makes connecting of speakers with a different impedance less critical.) Amp Physical / Operational Features: FRONT: Volume and Tone Controls (Tone control is quite sensitive with a wide range!), RAER: 2 Inputs for either 2 instruments or a Mic and an instrument; Speaker output allow to use intrnal and external speaker or to mute the internal speaker for external cabinet only. 10W output power - Quite loud! Amplifier up to current safety standards! Tubes: 6V6 6X4 6SL7. Condition: In perfect working condition; Hand built built with original vintage componets, vintage resistors, and quality componnets. The cabinet of the ampliifer is 50 years old and has the appreciated wear and tear. Dimensions, (aprox.): 13 1/2 (W) x 7 1/2 (D) x 13 (H). Lot: 1 custom hand crafted one of a kind guitar amplifier. As with most of my items: one of kind. Once sold no longer available! Stand out with a completely unique amp rig! Price: Amp (alone without the cabinet) $699.00, Amp + Cabinet (as shown above) $899.00 Buy Inquire about larger Images |
